Local Art Seen: UWS: NOW & THEN at the Superior Council for the Arts and North End Arts Gallery

This past week I had an opportunity to visit the North End Arts Gallery on the 2nd floor of the Red Mug Building at the corner of Hammond and Broadway. Though a relatively small gallery space, the room is well lit and the gallery showcases a lot of interesting work.

The current exhibit features artists with UWS connections, hence the title UWS: NOW& THEN. Many of the names are familiar to us, like Patricia Lenz and Colin Wiita.

I missed the reception last month, but the work is still on display for the next few weeks. Gallery hours are noon - 6pm Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. For more information visit www.superiorcfta.org.

Recommendation: If you work in Superior, take a lunch at the Red Mug next Thursday or Friday, and then wend your way upstairs to the gallery. If you work in Duluth, the High Bridge feeds right into Hammond Avenue and the building is just past the railroad tracks on the left.
