DEPOT GREAT HALL AND DAI GALLERIES

Art Night Out
Art Night Out is a family event designed and hosted by the Duluth Art Institute to thank its members.

"This year we will have KBQ Ribs on site offering up delicious fare, and the beloved cakewalk will return with prizes from How Sweet It Is Cakes. We'll also have live music by Woodblind, TWO bouncy houses for the little ones, and art making tables, including an activity dedicated to the monarch butterfly, led by Artist Mary Plaster of Duluth's All Souls Night fame. Please join us for these festivities ... and don't miss the opening of In & Out of Context in our galleries upstairs!

In & Out of Context Exhibition Opening
In & Out of Context is a series of black & white photographs by Tim White. An offshoot of White's book of the same title, the display echoes the approach of the publication, pairing White's photographs with the words of 21 Northland poets, songwriters, and prose artists. Related programming throughout the summer will include an evening of poetry featuring 21 poets for 21 seconds each (which sounds like a Twitter-like poetry event);  an ephemeral poetry workshop; and a music performance by Gaelynn Lea. The photographs and text will be on view through September 2.

Note: The music of Woodblind should be enough to fill the hall, so all the other activities are simply a bonus. Will we see you there?

Meantime, art goes on all around you. Engage it.
