More Twin Ports Arts Happenings for July

"Play is the exaltation of the possible." ~ Martin Buber

Let's begin this month with a shout out to Esther Piszczek who puts so much energy into supporting the arts and sharing all these local events that until recent years would have flown under the radar. That is, organizations like the Tweed and Duluth Art Institute have staff who write press releases and work with media to get the word out regarding their events but so many other events lack the resources for that. Thus our grass roots arts scene has benefited much from the social media networks that have emerged. Even so, it takes people like Esther to gather disparate points of interest so we know where to look. Thank you!

Highlights

July 8 begins the 2016 Movies in the Park Season at Leif Erickson with Shark Tale, 9:10 p.m. estimated start time;

July 9 brings the Duluth Fire Festival at the Armory Fire Arts Center with artist demonstrations, music, and more. See full list of scheduled demonstrations and events below.

July 16-17 gives you the opportunity to draw on sidewalks in Two Harbors at the annual Chalk-A-Lot Sidewalk Chalk Festival.

Patterned Peace
In addition to her classes and advocacy for the arts, Piszczek has published a new book titled Patterned Peace, a spiral-bound set of drawings ready for coloring. I've always thought her Zentangle-inspired work would look good in color and now you or your friends, or children, can do the coloring. Patterned Peace is  available at Amazon.com and Whole Person Associates. Read her blog post on how the book came into being.
