COP26: October 31 to November 12 World Leaders Meet to Discuss Climate Change. View from the Twitter Feed

The United Nations Climate Change Conference is generating a lot of buzz. I find Twitter to be useful mechanism for getting stories that aren't always generated by mainstream media. It is also useful for getting a read on where people are at in response to the news being fed to us.

What follows are Tweets from various folks when I did a search for COP26. The photo above and that of John Kerry were distributed by the Conference Media Center.

@davidkuten COP26 is a load of hypocritical garbage. The 30,000 climate alarmists flying in on their private jets and staying in luxury hotels while telling everyone else to give up meat, cars and gas boilers, can stick their New World Order where the Sun doesn't shine.

@cecilia_keating
All trains to Glasgow suspended due to weather-related event - hundreds of delegates to a climate conference stuck in Euston because UK's infrastructure just isn't resilient to climate change... @COP26

Interesting photo of masks in trash

@JamesMelville

When our leaders talk about the environment at
#COP26 - they have conveniently forgotten that masks are an environmental catastrophe of Covid. 129 billion masks that cannot be biodegraded are used and thrown away every month. Over 3 billion masks now pollute the oceans.

A lot of Tweets complaining about all the air travel that the rich enjoy, including all the private jets of attendees to COP26:

@tynewrc "Billboards calling out Prince Charles and Prince William as 'climate change hypocrites' will be going up in Glasgow to coincide with COP26" via Red Glasgow

This was an interesting story being re-Tweeted from the 2010 Summit:

WikiLeaks cables reveal how US manipulated climate accord

Hidden behind the save-the-world rhetoric of the global climate change negotiations lies the mucky realpolitik: money and threats buy political support; spying and cyberwarfare are used to seek out leverage.

The US diplomatic cables reveal how the US seeks dirt on nations opposed to its approach to tackling global warming; how financial and other aid is used by countries to gain political backing; how distrust, broken promises and creative accounting dog negotiations; and how the US mounted a secret global diplomatic offensive to overwhelm opposition to the controversial "Copenhagen accord", the unofficial document that emerged from the ruins of the Copenhagen climate change summit in 2009.

Fiji’s Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama at #COP26: "We Pacific nations have not travelled to the other end of the world to watch our future to be sacrificed at the altar of appeasement of the world's worst emitters."

A lot of folks who are angry about Boris Johnson having a nap at #COP26 aren’t angry about Sleepy Joe having a nap at #COP26 I say good luck to them both. I’d have taken a sleeping bag Sleeping face

Special Presidential Envoy John Kerry prepares to speak at COP26

More than 100 world leaders vow to stop cutting down trees by 2030 #COP26

EdNote: I am not sure what this means. No more houses made of wood? And when they eliminate oil, no more CDs, vinyl records, polyester suits, and about 6,000 products including bubble gum. (We can probably survive without the bubble gum.)
Zimbabwe has sent over 100 delegates to #COP26, including family members and friends, at taxpayers expense. 60 have nothing to do with climate change. Here are some enjoying a trip to Costco. (Photo was interesting)

EdNote: The event is referred to as COP26 because it is
the 26th Conference of the Parties to the U.N.'s climate body.
