Carlos Estevez: Celestial Traveller at the Frost

How many kinds of images can the human mind create? It's evident, especially in this past century, that the diversity of human imagination is incomprehensible. Not only in the fine arts, but in the realms of music, theater, design, fashion, cinema and literature. Or turn your attention to the field of invention and see what's emerged in that realm as well.

This fall the Frost Museum at FIU is hosting three exhibitions by artists who create work in diverse mediums. One of these is Carlos Estevez, who begins his artist statement with a set of questions:
What is the man?
What is life?
What do we represent in the universe?
What is happiness?
There is my obsession.

A little further he states:
My work is, in essence, the representation of a vision that nurtures itself from a whole lively and reflexive process; assimilating the world in order to reintegrate it once more to itself by means of images that symbolize my marks in the universe.

An exhibition by Estevez will be displayed this fall at the Frost Art Museum in Miami. The opening reception is from 4 - 7 p.m. this Saturday, September 12.
The show features Carlos Estevez: Celestial Traveler, Jim Couper: There Are No Other Everglades in the World and Rufina Santana: Cartographies of the Sea. All their work is very exciting. Here are some pieces by Estevez that will appear in the show, along with many, many others.
