Carlton Events of note at the Historic Scott House and Oldenburg House

This past month I visited the Historic Scott House and now understand the where the name comes from... It truly is Historic.

In addition to being an AirBnB, proprietor Jim Sheetz hosts an assortment of special events. Word on the street is that Pub Night at the Historic Scott House is his most popular event of the year.

Reservations are required, so call before you go.

Cookin' @ the O is usually the second weekend of each month. For March it will be the weekend of March 22 and 23 and the guest artist is Jason Weismann.

WCCO calls Weismann "Minnesota's answer to Michael Buble’ and the Swansons are happy to have him. Jason plays a commanding sax and takes pleasure in using the vocal chords he's been gifted with.

He enjoys a range of styles from Steely Dan and Old School Jive to Funk/Soul and contemporary groove sounds. He's plays with six bands and has been making a name for himself in both the Twin Cities jazz scene and nationally.

If you've never been to a Cookin' @ the O featuring fine dining and intimate jazz, then you owe it to yourself to check it out.

Select a night and make your reservations here.

The Historic Scott House and Oldenburg House are just a hop skip and a jump off Highway 35 at the Scanlon exit. For Oldenburg House you can also exit at Esko and wind down through Thompson and past the Thompson Dam. It's an easy drive from Duluth or points south.

Expand your horizons. New experiences keep us young.
