Twin Ports Art Scene... March Madness Is Here

50 years ago this March... Do you remember those first supersonic flights by the Concorde. I do. The windows of houses shook from the sonic booms. It was 50 years ago this week that Sgt. Pepper fell off the charts after an 88 week run. In March 1969 Glen Campbell won a Grammy for best record for "By the Time I Get to Phoenix." Which reminds me of another Glen Campbell song that I've been moved by, Wichita Lineman. In March 1969 John & Yoko had their first "bed-in for peace."

There were some other very memorable events in '69, actually. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon that summer. Woodstock happened, providing a big stage for a number of lesser known performers to get a career bump as a result. Dylan left Woodstock to do a concert at the Isle of Wight. And in September John Lennon notified the other Beatles that he was leaving the group. Paul made the official announcement in 1970. The world did not come to an end.

OK, enough nostalgia. Here we are in the present, hoping the longer days will bring more warmth to melt the chill of Jack Frost's emphatic embrace this winter. And here's some of what's happening in the Twin Ports art scene this month.

For starters, Thanks again to Esther Piszczek for assembling these monthly outlines of Twin Ports Arts activities. The Best way to outline each month is to bookmark and check out the Esther's Twin Ports Arts Blog.
